For exploring bays and inlets on a Mexico RV journey, an inflatable boat and outboard motor proved to be great choice.

Boat and Motor

For us, water recreation is a big part of RVing. The last small boat of choice for us was a Quicksilver 12 ½ ft. inflatable powered with a Johnson 15 hp outboard. Our boat was equipped with beach wheels for pulling over the sand. The boat's weight: about 120 lbs including the floor boards. The inflatable boat stored in a zipper bag. We stored ours under the RV bed.

When it came time to lift it out, we would take the floorboards out first then lift the boat carry bag to lighten the carry-weight.

The motor we stored in a bay of the motorhome we had then.
One winter on the coast in San Patricio Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico, we used the boat so frequently we decided to look into getting dock space at a marina in the next door neighbor village of Barra de Navidad, so we could leave the boat inflated and ready to go. The dock master found us just the spot and we could handle the dock fees very well: $1 U.S. per day. For month of exploring the bays and inlets, that was probably the best $30 we every spent.
